About the role
The CFD Modeler II plays a crucial role in the design and construction of mission-critical, healthcare, research lab, and large venue projects. They develop and run CFD models to simulate building systems and provide data-driven recommendations for design and operational decisions.
Responsibilities
- Support gathering and validating data for CFD model development.
- Select appropriate CFD tools based on project requirements.
- Develop and run 3D CFD models for various building types.
- Monitor and troubleshoot CFD model convergence.
- Contribute to analysis of simulation results and report findings.
- Enhance modeling workflows with scripting and automation.
- Aid in business development and pursue activities.
- Participate in client, company, and industry events.
- Maintain proactive communication throughout the project cycle.
- Communicate with clients and answer questions.
- Visit job sites to verify conditions and observe progress.
- Resolve conflicts involving owners, architects, and contractors.
- Identify and fill gaps in industry knowledge.
- Stay updated on industry trends and codes.
- Support team goals and assist with project coordination.
- Perform limited project management tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in CFD modeling and mechanical design.
- Demonstrated experience in using CFD analysis software.
- Experience in programming languages such as C#, C++, or Python.
- Experience in data center and mission-critical projects.
- Familiarity with CFD analysis of various facility types.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards.
- Intermediate proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
- Team-oriented and willing to collaborate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
- Baseline knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, and Building Mechanical Systems.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in CFD modeling and mechanical design.
- Demonstrated experience in using CFD analysis software (Fluent, Cadence Reality DC, or STAR CCM+).
- Experience in programming languages such as C#, C++, or Python.
- Experience in data center and mission-critical projects.
- Familiarity with CFD analysis of various facility types, including healthcare, research labs, and large venues.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency in CFD analysis software.
- Programming skills in C#, C++, or Python.
- Knowledge of Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
- Ability to learn and utilize various systems and processes.
- Intermediate knowledge of engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
