About the role
The CWOCN/CWON provides specialized nursing care for patients with complex wounds, ostomies, and incontinence in an acute care setting.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, and manage patients with conditions like pressure injuries, fistulas, and skin integrity issues.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop individualized care plans and evaluate outcomes.
- Offer hands-on care, education to patients, families, and caregivers on wound and ostomy management.
- Serve as a clinical resource, mentor staff, and promote evidence-based practices.
- Assist with product selection, quality improvement initiatives, and protocol development.
- Maintain current knowledge of clinical standards and advancements in wound, ostomy, and continence nursing.
Requirements
- Must hold current RN license in Pennsylvania.
- BLS certification required.
- CWON/CWOCN certification required.
Qualifications
- Experience in acute care settings preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
