Certified Welding Inspector

About the role

Froehling & Robertson, Inc. (F&R) is seeking an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our talented and dedicated team. Established in 1881, F&R is one of the oldest independent testing/engineering companies and a minority-owned business known for its commitment to safety, respect, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Perform bolting inspections, structural steel framing inspections, and visual welding inspections on commercial and industrial buildings, bridges, or other steel structures to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
• Conduct nondestructive testing (NDT) using methods such as magnetic particle testing (MT), liquid dye penetrant testing (PT), and ultrasonic shear wave testing (UT) if qualified.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least three years of experience in performing steel inspections, including welded and bolted connections for fabrication, assembly, or erection.
• A current AWS CWI certification is required.
• An ASNT SNT-TC-1-A qualification in MT, PT, and/or UT is desirable but not required.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (both oral and written).
• The ability to solve problems logically and meet deadlines.
• The ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• The ability to learn new concepts quickly.
• An attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• The ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. if necessary.
• Willingness to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening, which includes a background investigation, drug screening, and driving record check.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years or more of experience in performing steel inspection to include welded and bolted connections for fabrication, assembly or erection.
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
• ASNT SNT-TC-1-A qualification in the methods of Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), and Ultrasonic Shear Wave Testing (UT) is desirable but not required.
