BluePearl Pet Hospital in Glendale, WI is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician to work in our Emergency and Critical Care department. Offering up to a $5,000 Sign on bonus to qualified candidates*.
Schedule & Pay
- Schedule: Day Shift
- Pay Range: $22.25 – $40.50/hour – This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.
- Competitive Shift Differentials:
- Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p to 8a): $3.50
- Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a to 6p): $3.50
- Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p to 8a): $5.00
Responsibilities
- Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
- Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
- Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including proper positioning of patients.
- Assist with or perform CT, endoscopy, and ultrasonography.
- Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
- Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert veterinarians to changes and issues.
- Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
- Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
- Proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
- Place and maintain feeding tubes, drains, PICC line catheters, and central line catheters.
- Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
- Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
- Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R (basic and advanced) CPR guidelines. ALS and BLS certification is provided at no cost to you.
- Mentor and train fellow team members and engage with clients with empathy and professionalism.

- Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours.
- Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
