About the role

Oconomowoc Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our team and support both outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry. We are seeking a versatile, client-focused technician who thrives in a dynamic general practice environment—balancing exam room care, client communication, and hands-on procedural support. We value credentialed technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital, helping elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Support efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
• Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
• Assist in surgery
• Perform dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
• Review treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
• Identify patient concerns and support efficient case management across the hospital
• Build strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service

Minimum Qualifications and Skill Set

• 3+ years of veterinary technician experience
• Active and good-standing Certified Veterinary Technician in the state of Wisconsin
• Proficiency in the following skills:
  • Patient assessment, nursing care, and monitoring
  • Anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Surgical assistance and aseptic technique
  • Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
  • Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement
  • Radiology positioning and safety protocols
  • Medication administration and accurate drug calculations
  • Laboratory sample collection and in-house diagnostic testing
  • Accurate medical record documentation
  • Safe, low-stress patient handling and restraint techniques
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong critical thinking and attention to detail
  • Effective teamwork and professional communication skills
• Recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply

Pay

$22–$26 USD per hour, for each hour worked

Schedule

Full-time position with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday–Friday.
