About the role

This is an overnight position with working hours starting at 10 pm and ending at 8 am. We are looking for a Certified Veterinary Technician with part-time or full-time options available. Weekend availability is required, with 36 hours a week and 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Engage PAW’s Collaborative Process in accordance with current operational guidelines:
    • Attend individual Collaborative Meetings with members of the Collaborative Team.
    • Track progress through Core Training, and track issues and accomplishments as they arise.
    • Provide feedback on guidelines, processes, and policies with intent to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Attend departmental or All-Staff meetings.
  • Perform process-related duties:
    • Direct and concise communications with caregivers.
    • Recognize and respond accordingly to emotionally charged interactions with caregivers and/or staff.
    • Utilize practice management software for the creation of estimates, invoices, prescriptions, and certificates.
  • Service-minded actions:
    • Safe handling, movement, restraint, and relocation of patients.
    • Maintenance of all biosecurity, cleanliness, and isolation protocols.
    • Proficient sample acquisition, phlebotomy, laboratory & surgical practices.
    • Read, interpret, and assist with the implementation of written medical treatments.
  • Practice patient-related duties:
    • Triage and assist incoming patients based on urgency of care and available resources.
    • Assist and perform in the vaccination of animals.
    • Assist in surgical procedures and/or dental prophylaxis.
    • Monitor and recover all assigned sedation and anesthetic events.
    • Assist and perform first aid and euthanasia.

Requirements

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (1+ year experience preferred but not required).
  • A high work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate precisely.
  • Interpret medical records and record client history accurately.
  • Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow.
  • Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner.
  • Proficient in sample collection to include blood samples, urine, fecal, and skin.
  • Ability to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and tests.
  • Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs.
  • A self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset.
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback in a professional manner to maintain hospital efficiency.

Pay

$20 - $25/hr based on experience, plus night shift premium.
