Responsibilities

  • Support and uphold AWP’s core values and mission to protect our customers’ people, businesses, and time.
  • Controls movement of vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic through work zones using hand signals with a STOP/SLOW Paddle.
  • Reviews, comprehends, and executes temporary traffic control plans and/or standards to ensure work zones are properly installed and maintained.
  • Covers and coordinates with customers to ensure the safety of all workers.
  • Set up, maintain, and remove Advance Warning Signs, Channelizing Devices, and other traffic control devices according to Federal, State, and/or Local Temporary Traffic Control Guidelines and Temporary Traffic Control Plans for simple and intermediate complexity work zones.
  • Maintain a Flagger Station by standing and controlling road users through the use of hand signals with a STOP/SLOW Paddle.
  • Drive a company vehicle to transport equipment, trailers, and team members to and from work sites safely and in a timely manner. May also pull lightweight trailered equipment.
  • Effective radio communication with team members on work site.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and practices.
  • Notify Supervisor of any potential safety issues or incidents.
  • Achieve organizational required training within timeframe established by Project Manager or Facility Manager.
  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to Protectors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Traffic Control Technician (TCT) Certification or 2000+ verifiable hours required.
  • High School Diploma or GED completion required.
  • Prior experience preferred in temporary traffic control services, utility industry, or construction industry preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office products and customer relationship management systems.
  • Must be able to follow safe workplace practices.
  • Valid Driver’s License void of suspension or revocation.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Mandatory out of town work averaging 2 weeks- 2 months.
