Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
About the Role
Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital in Auburn Hills, Michigan, specializing in comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services for children, adolescents, and adults. The Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) will provide Recreational Therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions, and discharge leisure planning.
Responsibilities
- Provide Recreational Therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic activity interventions.
- Utilize individual and/or group activity interventions to promote positive behavioral changes (cognitive, social, emotional, or physical).
- Educate clients on healthy coping skills and available leisure resources for post-discharge planning.
- Evaluate client progress and document therapy effectiveness daily.
- Attend treatment team conferences to exchange information and assist with initial treatment plans and progress updates.
- Adhere to current standards of practice in all therapy services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an approved program.
- Certification by the National Certification Board (NCTRC).
- Experience in a behavioral health hospital setting preferred.
- Must be in good standing (positive evaluation/employment history, no corrective actions) for internal transfer consideration.
