Certified Surgical Technologist Resident

About the Role

As a Certified Surgical Technologist Resident at St. David's Medical Center, you will ensure all equipment and instruments are operational and maintain adequacy and organization of equipment, supplies, and instruments. You will assist professional staff in providing care for the operative patient before, during, and after surgery, ensuring proper instrumentation and supplies are available on the surgical field and in the operating room.

You will help the sterile operative team, perform scrub and circulating duties in the operating room, and perform routine and specialized housekeeping duties. Responsibilities include applying principles of asepsis, infection control, and medical ethics, facilitating safe and effective completion of invasive surgical procedures, positioning the patient on the operating room table, preparing the patient and operative site by draping, and assisting the circulating nurse in maintaining correct needle, sponge, and instrument counts.

Responsibilities

• Position and drape the patient on the operating room table.
• Assist the circulating nurse in maintaining correct needle, sponge, and instrument counts.

Requirements

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), Surgical Technologist (ST), or Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• Associate Degree or graduation from a Vocational School.
