Certified Surgical Technician - Mainland Campus - Full Time Days

Responsibilities

  • Assist the surgical team during operating procedures, following the direction of the Registered Nurse.
  • Provide direct patient care as a scrub/instrument person, including arranging sterile setups and passing sponges, instruments, and sutures.
  • Maintain accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
  • Absorb patient positioning and movement as directed by the surgical RN.
  • Ensure a clean and organized operating room environment.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the care team to meet patient needs and support departmental goals.
  • Provide quality customer service and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain awareness of potential hazards in the hospital environment.
  • Maintain good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for precise surgical assistance.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Successful completion of an accredited surgical technologist program and certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or equivalent.
  • Experience in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications is desirable, and training will be provided for this skill.
  • BLSHCP certification is required upon hire or transfer.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and maintain retraction for extended periods.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity.
  • Good visual and auditory acuity.
  • Demonstrated competencies as outlined in the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
  • Report to the Clinical Director in Perioperative Services.
