About the role

A Certified Surgical Tech, First Assist who excels in this role will assist the surgeon during procedures by providing exposure, handling tissue, suturing, and controlling bleeding. They will prepare and maintain the sterile field, ensure all instruments and supplies are ready and properly handled, anticipate the surgeon’s needs, pass instruments and materials efficiently during procedures, perform preoperative and postoperative duties, including patient positioning, skin preparation, and wound dressing, and ensure compliance with surgical protocols, aseptic techniques, and patient safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the surgeon during procedures by providing exposure, handling tissue, suturing, and controlling bleeding
  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field, ensuring all instruments and supplies are ready and properly handled
  • Anticipate the surgeon's needs and pass instruments and materials efficiently during procedures
  • Perform preoperative and postoperative duties, including patient positioning, skin preparation, and wound dressing
  • Ensure compliance with surgical protocols, aseptic techniques, and patient safety standards

Requirements

  • Certified Surgical First Assist certification required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC) required within 7 days of hire
  • Experience: One or more years of experience as a Surgical Scrub Technician with CSFA certification required
  • Knowledge: Specific knowledge of surgical procedures required
  • Skills: Extensive communication skills, team building skills, surgical assisting and instrumentation skills required

Qualifications

Licensed as an acute care hospital with 75-beds, we offer a broad range of inpatient, outpatient, intensive care, surgical, emergency, and diagnostic services. Applicants should have a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and Graduate of an Accredited program for Surgical Scub Technicians.
