About the role

Reporting to the Charge Nurse/Shift Manager of the assigned area, the Operating Room Technician performs duties under the direction of the WCC OR Supervisor/Registered Nurse (RN). Responsible for providing high-quality individualized basic care activities within the scope of practice. The WCC OR Technician assists the RN/MD (surgeon) in the Operating Room and consults with the Clinical Manager and Department Director as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties under the direction of the WCC OR Supervisor/Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Provide high-quality individualized basic care activities within the scope of practice in the Operating Room.
  • Assist the RN/MD (surgeon) as needed.

Requirements

  • Completion of a formal OR Technician training program, or participation in a hospital-based OR Technician training program or military OR tech training.
  • Minimum one-year experience in an acute care setting.
  • One-year experience in OR/OB.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • For Certified Operating Technician only: Certification from an approved Operating Room Technician certifying body.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma preferred.

Skills

Frequent standing/walking. Ability to lift/position up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 50 lbs of force. Moderate reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, manual dexterity, and mobility. Ability to move quickly and adjust vision sufficiently to perform duties.

Working Conditions

  • Regularly exposed to the risk of contagious and bloodborne diseases.
  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations, exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness), emergency and crisis situations, and irregular hours.
  • Increased stress due to multiple calls and inquiries.

Pay

$27.82 - $37.38 hourly. Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience.

Schedule

  • Part Time.
  • Nights with holiday rotation.
