About the role

The Certified Surgical Assistant at Sentara Ambulatory Surgery BelleHarbour in Suffolk, Virginia, is a full-time position offering a sign-on bonus up to $15,000 for new graduates and experienced candidates. The shift is rotating, from 7am-4pm Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities

• Anticipates the needs of the surgical team
• Aids the surgeon with tasks including selecting equipment, setting up various tables, positioning equipment, providing retraction, cauterizing bleeding vessels, suturing, and closing incisions
• Installs medications, applies surgical dressings, splints, and casts
• Performs preoperative and postoperative duties to enhance patient care
• Communicates effectively across disciplines to optimize patient outcomes

Requirements

• TS/Trade School Graduate
• Certification: CAAHEP Surgical Assistant required
• Certification: Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) from NCCSA or NBSTSA respectively
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA
• One year of operating room experience preferred
• Effective interdisciplinary communication skills
