About the role

We are recruiting for a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCC) to provide services at the Portland Air National Guard Base, OR. The CSCC will work as part of the Human Performance Optimization Program with the 125th Special Tactics Squadron. The role involves preparing service members physically and mentally to optimize mission readiness and sustained peak performance, while minimizing injury and maximizing return-to-duty efficiency.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., including a one-hour lunch break.

Responsibilities

  • Program development: Design comprehensive, periodized strength and conditioning programs tailored to the 125th STS.
  • Assessment & evaluation: Conduct initial performance evaluations, needs analyses, and ongoing fitness assessments (strength, power, speed, agility, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, body composition).
  • Rehabilitation & recovery: Create individualized rehabilitation and performance training plans, often in collaboration with Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers.
  • Injury prevention: Implement protocols (e.g., neck and spine strengthening) to enhance durability and reduce injury risk.
  • Education & training: Deliver briefings, seminars, and educational sessions on health, fitness, nutrition, and recovery.
  • Unit integration: Observe and support training events such as obstacle courses, combatives, and field training.
  • Leadership & advising: Advise unit commanders on strength and conditioning matters, develop SOPs, and recommend program improvements.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of demonstrable accumulated experience (continuous and sustained experience preferred) developing long- and short-range planning and coordination of sport/mission-specific performance programs resulting in attributable results with individuals.
  • Certification: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or the Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA).
  • Life Support Certification: Current AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Security: Ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
