About the role
Oversees the daily operations of the central processing area(s) related to decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of instruments and equipment
Performs training and orientation for central processing staff
Manages inventory and supplies housed in the central processing area(s)
Cleans equipment and restocks supplies in a timely manner to prepare for patient unit needs.
Directs and supervises staff assigned to the Central Processing area(s)
Develops and updates tools used in the assembly of instrument sets.
Performs quality monitoring and sterilization validation testing
Responsibilities
- Oversees the daily operations of the central processing area(s) related to decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of instruments and equipment

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prioritize tasks to support department efficiencies
- Self-motivated and directed
- Communicate positively and professionally
- Perform problem-solving resulting in improved processes and performance for the department
- Work collaboratively with many levels of people
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years as a Sterile Processing/Central Processing Technician
- Experience in managing supply and equipment inventories preferred
- Experience as a team leader preferred
- Basic computer knowledge preferred
- In depth knowledge of the functions and operations of various types of decontamination and sterilization equipment required
- Advanced knowledge of basic instrumentation and equipment required
- Ability to prioritize tasks to support department efficiencies required

- Knowledge of medical terminology and concepts of inventory management
- Basic computer knowledge
