Certified Sterile Processing Technician
About the role
This position is a HSPA certified technician, responsible for ensuring that all basic surgical supplies, instruments and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed and tracked in a quality / timely manner throughout the hospital for basic procedures and 2+ surgical specialties (i.e. GYN, Urology, ENT).
Responsibilities
- Train and document the competencies to perform these duties independently and without close supervision.
- Validate all the Sterile Processing proficiencies in our education system.
- Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations, promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service behavior standards, performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Central Processing Certification from HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) required.
- High School Diploma preferred.
Qualifications
- Experience with Sterile Processing Department software.
- CER or CIS certification through HSPA (Level 3) preferred.

Pay
- Level 2 Pay Range: 20.07 - 28.59 USD Hourly
- Level 3 Pay Range: 20.88 - 31.09 USD Hourly
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
- Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment.
- Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
- Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
