Certified Sterile Processing Technician

Responsibilities

• Inspect, clean, assemble, and sterilize surgical instrument sets.
• Operate cleaning and sterilization equipment and prepare supplies and instruments for both steam and low-temperature sterilization.
• Accurately perform prep functions including instrument set assembly, wrapping, labeling, and identification of all items processed in SPD.
• Demonstrate knowledge of all instruments and equipment processed through SPD.
• Demonstrate knowledge of proper loading and operation of sterilizers and other equipment.
• Prepare case carts accurately and deliver within adequate time for case setup.
• Promptly store sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment in the proper locations after processing.
• Perform biological testing/sterility assurance tasks accurately.
• Maintain biological test log and other sterilization records keeping.
• Knows procedure for load recall in the event of a positive biological test.
• Responds promptly and positively to all customer requests.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• One of the following certifications is required:
• CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)
• Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)
• IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management) certification
• CBSPD certification
• Minimum 3 years of experience.
• Must have demonstrated competence in instrument set assembly and sterilization across multiple specialties.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

Pay Rate: $32.00 - $34.00 Per hour (Based on Experience)
