Job Summary and Qualifications
Position Summary: The Central Sterile Technician II coordinates and collaborates in the overall cleaning, assembly, and dispensing of instruments and equipment needed for daily surgical procedures. Performs all duties of SPD Tech I and II.
Position Requirements: Licensure/Certification/Registration - Current Central Service Technician certification with IAHCSMM or CBSPD required. Education - High school or GED required. Experience - 1 year experience with multi-specialty OR Instrumentation preferred. Ability to read, comprehend, and write English, including an understanding of medical terminology. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Ability to operate various sterile processing equipment, knowledge of medical terminology, ability to develop and follow tray cards, prompt and accurate response to requests for surgical instruments and supplies, advanced knowledge of sterilization principles, proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills, advanced working knowledge of sterilization principles, including AORN, AMMI & OSHA guidelines, ability to collaborate with essential personnel to ensure proper sterilization, storage, and condition of instruments and supplies, ability to stand or walk constantly and lift heavy instrument trays, excellent organizational and manual dexterity skills.
