Responsibilities
- Play a key role in how our operating rooms care for our patients as the whole team relies on you to successfully set up the operating room.
- Receive ample support, training and education, including learning how to operate the latest, state-of-the-art processing equipment and using the newest sterilization tools and concepts.
- Ensure the safety and health of the patient by helping to ensure the proper setup and decontamination of reprocessed instruments, equipment distribution and case cart management.
- Perform case pull functions, demonstrate proper handling of equipment, instrumentation and chemicals while adhering to preventative maintenance schedules and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards during the decontamination process.
- Scan, sort and inspect instruments for functionality and cleanliness. Assemble, wrap and label instruments. Ensure proper cleaning, decontamination, assembly and high-level disinfection of reusable instrumentation in accordance with AAMI ST79 standards.
- Maintain and monitor the distribution of supplies and equipment. Perform recordkeeping functions, such as processing, sterilization and quality assurance.
- Participate in in-service education. Build case carts using electronic preference cards and dispatch them to appropriate locations. Perform preceptor duties and assist in educating non-certified technicians.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified CS/SPD Technician (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER)
- Proficient in using computerized instrument tracking systems
- Two to five years of experience in central service/sterile processing areas
- Completion of a recognized training program with certification in central service/sterile processing
- Basic computer skills
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) Proficient in using computerized instrument tracking systems
- Preferred qualifications: Two to five years of experience in central service/sterile processing areas Completion of a recognized training program with certification in central service/sterile processing Basic computer skills
Skills
- Physical Requirements: Lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull and navigate supply carts weighing >than 75 pounds.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Benefits
A caregiver in this position will work days/evenings/nights/weekends between 7:00am and 11:00pm. For the first 90-days during new hire training period, a caregiver in this role will work 7:00am to 3:30pm. A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Pay
- Pay Range Minimum hourly: $21.50
- Pay Range Maximum hourly: $29.50
Schedule
- Work days/evenings/nights/weekends between 7:00am and 11:00pm.
- For the first 90-days during new hire training period, work 7:00am to 3:30pm.
