Customer Experience
Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience. Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members.
Operations
- Assists in the practice of pharmacy under the supervision of the pharmacist.
- Reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
- Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager.
- Utilizes pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring accuracy.
- Fills prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
- Verifies medicine is correct and checks for possible interactions.
- Aids pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow.
- Reports and adheres to policies regarding prescription errors.
- Adheres to Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing.
- Registers all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash.
- Assists in locating products for customers in the OTC aisle.
- Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist.
- Processes manual claims for third party program prescription services.
- Maintains knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and files claims for overages or shortages.
- Supports Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in analyzing and improving pharmacy financial, customer service, and inventory performance data.
- Assists in administering clinical services, including collecting and properly labeling blood/urine samples from patients.
- Supports the local medical community by detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums.
- Supports the Pickup program.
- Assists with exterior and interior maintenance of the Pharmacy Department.
- Coaches pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the correct use of processes and tools.
Training & Personal Development
- Maintains PTCB or ExCPT certification through designated training program and/or state required certification/registration.
- Attends training and completes PPLs requested by Manager.
- Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Qualifications
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in certain locations).
