Certified: Science Teacher (Middle School)

Summary

This class facilitates learning, academic achievement, and personal development by providing instruction to students. It involves developing and implementing curriculum and lesson plans, utilizing technology, and understanding diverse student needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
• A valid Connecticut State Board of Education teaching certificate/endorsement(s) 034 General Science, 7-12
• Current Motor Vehicle operator’s license (may be required)

Essential Functions

• Advises, assists, and supervises students
• Evaluates student performance and maintains records
• Develops and implements curriculum and lesson plans
• Maintains contact with parents and works on student development
• Participates in staff development and professional growth activities
• Enforces school rules and ensures classroom safety
• Provides instruction in core and age-appropriate curriculum
• Assists with special needs students and mainstreaming
• Collaborates with special education teachers and completes IEPs
• Participates in planning and placement teams
