Summary

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
  • A valid Connecticut State Board of Education teaching certificate/endorsement(s) 034 General Science, 7-12
  • Current Motor Vehicle operator’s license (may be required)

  • Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Scientific Research Based Interventions (SRBI)

  • Human relations, mediation, conflict management, and interpersonal interactions
  • Reports and evaluations
  • Adapting teaching styles to diverse student populations
  • Working in a cooperative learning environment
  • Utilizing computer and multimedia technology

Essential Functions

  • Advises, assists, and supervises students
  • Evaluates student performance and maintains records
  • Develops and implements curriculum and lesson plans
  • Maintains contact with parents and works on student development
  • Participates in staff development and professional growth activities
  • Enforces school rules and ensures classroom safety
  • Provides instruction in core and age-appropriate curriculum
  • Assists with special needs students and mainstreaming
  • Collaborates with special education teachers and completes IEPs
  • Participates in planning and placement teams
