Certified Police Officer- Homeland Security Unit

Responsibilities

Provide security and operational support during special events.

Manage traffic control.

Conduct routine police patrols, particularly in maritime environments.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Current DCJS certification as a Police Officer.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Pass a Division swim test.
• Pass a background investigation including a polygraph examination.
• Successfully pass testing for controlled substances.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Operate a police patrol boat.
• Obtain relevant boating licenses/certifications.

Qualifications

• Specialized courses/training in Police Science or related field of study preferred.
• Proven ability to positively interact and communicate effectively.
• Highly motivated, self-supervising, and able to adopt a flexible work schedule.
• Ability to function in stressful situations and exercise good judgment.
• Ability to read and understand laws, policies, rules, and regulations.
