Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT I)

Responsibilities
- Perform skin puncture or venipuncture on patients of all ages to obtain blood specimens for laboratory analysis under the supervision of the Laboratory Director/Manager/Supervisor.
- Perform computer data entry, filing, telephone communication, and other clerical duties.
- Demonstrate knowledge of laboratory test terminology and good communication skills with patients and visitors.
- Use proper phlebotomy techniques and equipment for specimen collection from newborns to geriatric patients.
- Process specimens for microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank.
- Prepare specimens for referral to reference laboratories.
- Maintain cleanliness of storage areas, trays, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers, and work areas.
- Stock routine supplies and process or load specimens on automated laboratory instrumentation.
- Assist with sample pickup at hospital/OR, sorting samples, inventory, replenishing supplies, ordering supplies, mail handling, faxing, phone answering, and product deliveries.
- Perform other tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the department manager/director.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current and valid state certification as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I) in compliance with CA Codes (Business and Professions Code: 1246) and (California Code of Regulations: 1034).
- BLS certification within 45 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
- Minimum of one (1) year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Pay
The current compensation range for this role is $23.00 to $30.19 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined based on factors such as skillset, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
