About the Role
Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policies. Responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assists with and coaches pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.
Responsibilities
- Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience by engaging customers, resolving issues, and sharing best practices with team members.
- Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine, and checking for interactions.
- Reports prescription errors immediately and adheres to the Quality Improvement Program and Good Faith Dispensing policies.
- Handles cash transactions, processes manual claims for third-party prescriptions, and assists customers in locating over-the-counter products.
- Manages inventory activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments, and files claims for discrepancies.
- May assist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples, and coordinating with healthcare clinics and providers.
- Develops relationships with the local medical community through outreach to healthcare groups, retirement homes, and nursing homes.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly pharmacy department, ensuring adequate supplies.
- Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Good math skills for accurate prescription filling.
- Good computer skills and knowledge of store inventory control.
- PTCB certification.
Training & Personal Development
- Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program or state requirements.
- Completes training and continuing education credits as requested by management.
- Maintains knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy, including industry developments.
Pay
Salary Range: $18 - $21.50 per hour.
