Job Description
Job Title: Pharmacy Fulfillment Certified Pharmacy Technician
Department: Pharmacy Fulfillment Center
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Works with co-workers as a team to ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures and facility policies
- Handles inquiries that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise and judgment
- Aids in developing standard operating procedures
- Prepares and affixes labels to prescription containers
- Aids in training employees
- Aids in adherence to quality assurance standards
- Gains complete understanding of Hy-Vee’s retail pharmacy operations and offers avenues to better serve them
- Orders, checks-in, and stocks pharmacy supplies
- Maintains cleanliness of pharmacy and dispensing area
- Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
- Reports any medication errors to appropriate personnel
- Orders and stocks mail order call center duties including data entry to prepare prescription orders
- Manually counts medication quantities and replenishes medication cells as needed
- Replaces empty medication cells and brings full cells to robots
Secondary Duties And Responsibilities
- Assists in areas as needed
- Performs other related job duties and special projects as required
Physical Requirements
- Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near and far range with or without correction, field of vision, and color vision
- Must be able to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities: stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, reaching, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
Education And Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified as a licensed technician through a certified national program and maintains continuing education requirements to keep license active
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk is preferred

- Able to work in a fast paced environment, assisting in the preparation of accurate prescriptions
- Able to compose original correspondence; follow technical manuals; have increased contact with people; interview counsel or advise people; evaluate technical data
Working Conditions
- This position frequently involves a fast work pace in a production setting
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks on a daily basis
Equipment Used to Perform Job
- High volume solutions robotics, operating software, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Contacts
- Daily contact with employees, suppliers, and delivery drivers
- Occasional contact with Hy-Vee stores, trade/professional organizations, and federal/state governmental or regulatory agencies
