Certified Pharmacy Tech

About the Role

A motivated, nationally certified pharmacy technician who has registered with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy (OSBP) to work under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist in accordance with applicable state and federal laws to perform a variety of duties assisting the pharmacist.

Responsibilities

• Fill Automated Dispensing Units and remove discontinued medications.
• Check for damaged and outdated IV fluids and medications in work area and remove outdated stock.
• Assure equipment for provision of patient care is available and in working order (e.g. crash carts, PARx hand helds, packager, and printers).
• Assure drugs in Pyxis are in the correct place.
• Prepare prescribed medications, including compounded formulations and IVs.
• Assure quality packaging, storage, safety, security, and distribution of medications.
• Train pharmacy technician trainees.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 18 years of age.
• Possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Pass approved criminal background checks.
• Completed an Ohio State Board of Pharmacy approved training program (if required).
• National pharmacy technician certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).
• Registered with the OSBP as a certified pharmacy technician.
• Read, write, perform arithmetic calculations, and follow verbal or written instructions.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with other common office equipment.
• Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with pharmacy, nursing, and other healthcare employees.
• Analytic ability to perform assigned tasks.
