Certified Peer Support Specialist
About the role
We are hiring for a Certified Peer Support Specialist at RHA Health Services. This position offers a satisfying and fun opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people with intellectual, developmental disabilities, and those facing mental health and substance use challenges.
Responsibilities
- Provides highly individualized services in the community and promotes individual self-determination and decision-making to individuals with Mental Health or Substance Abuse issues.
- Provides empowerment skills and support in successful recovery living.
- Aids individuals in finding resources, advising on processes, and encouraging follow-through with proposed resolutions, locating social activities, or providing other assistance as needed.
- Leads peer support groups with individuals served.
- Supports/assists individuals in daily decision making and resolution of minor problems.
- Facilitates social opportunities in the community.
- Fosters development of healthy relationships by encouraging participation in community activities.
- Shares personal story of recovery and resilience to instill hope.
- Models effective coping and self-help techniques to individuals.
Requirements
- Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist in NC or PA.
- One year experience working with individuals with behavioral health issues preferred.
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
