Certified Peer Support Specialist

About the role

We are hiring for a Certified Peer Support Specialist at RHA Health Services. This position offers a satisfying and fun opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people with intellectual, developmental disabilities, and those facing mental health and substance use challenges.

Responsibilities

• Provides highly individualized services in the community and promotes individual self-determination and decision-making to individuals with Mental Health or Substance Abuse issues.
• Provides empowerment skills and support in successful recovery living.
• Aids individuals in finding resources, advising on processes, and encouraging follow-through with proposed resolutions, locating social activities, or providing other assistance as needed.
• Leads peer support groups with individuals served.
• Supports/assists individuals in daily decision making and resolution of minor problems.
• Facilitates social opportunities in the community.
• Fosters development of healthy relationships by encouraging participation in community activities.
• Shares personal story of recovery and resilience to instill hope.
• Models effective coping and self-help techniques to individuals.

Requirements

• Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist in NC or PA.
• One year experience working with individuals with behavioral health issues preferred.
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
