Certified Peer Support Professional CCBHC
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Certified Peer Crisis Specialist is someone who has verification of certification from the state and self-identifies as a voice of recovery with lived mental health and/or addiction experience. They assist clients with support and de-escalation during a crisis, help articulate personal recovery goals, and coordinate care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Deploy to individuals in crisis in the community
- Communicate understanding of recovery and articulate it to others
- Facilitate evidence-based protocols and complete screens and risk assessments
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings
- Coordinate and assist with crisis intervention and care coordination
- Transport clients to appointments and access resources
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic computer literacy
Qualifications
- Education: Must be 18 years old or older, have lived experience receiving mental health and/or addictions treatment, and be in recovery to meet state requirements. High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of recovery.
- Certification/Licensure: Required state certification.
- Requirements of the Certification: Lived experience with mental illness/addiction/gambling disorder, willingness to share personal recovery story, assist clients in recovery planning, and identify barriers.
