Certified Peer Specialist - Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Program (Twin Cities Metro)

About the role

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to join the Outpatient Substance Use Disorder program. The position provides recovery‑oriented support services to individuals receiving outpatient substance use disorder treatment, working alongside the program’s Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and Mental Health Practitioner. The specialist helps clients identify strengths, develop coping strategies, access community resources, and work toward recovery goals through individual and group interventions.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality program services to individuals in a professional manner.
• Complete required documentation according to program standards and timelines.
• Offer peer support to clients dealing with substance use and/or mental health symptoms.
• Provide guidance, encouragement, education, and skill‑building around wellness planning, crisis planning, and self‑advocacy to support recovery goals.
• Help clients identify and leverage their strengths to reach treatment goals and overcome barriers to community resources.

Schedule

Part‑Time, 20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling between Monday‑Friday during business hours.

Location

Community‑based, rotating among the following sites:

• Huss Center for Recovery – 2120 Park Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404
• York Mental Health Clinic – 317 York Ave, St. Paul, MN 55130
• Northside Community Support Program – 1309 Girard Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55411

Pay

Hiring range based on qualifications and past work experience:

• Certified Peer Specialist I: $20.00 – $21.60 hourly
• Certified Peer Specialist II: $22.00 – $23.76 hourly
