Certified Peer Support Specialist - Substance Use Disorder Program

About the role

The Peer Services program at ReDiscover is an expansion initiative aimed at connecting clients with mental health and substance use disorder services. Peer Specialists leverage their own experiences to foster trust and engagement, supporting clients on their journey to recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Share personal experiences of resilience and recovery to model successful coping strategies.
  • Link clients with support groups, community resources, and wellness activities relevant to their recovery goals.
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to develop and adjust individualized treatment plans.
  • Facilitate and participate in mutual support and educational groups within ReDiscover programs.
  • Assist with client transportation using a personal vehicle, ensuring safety and confidentiality.
  • Safeguard and maintain confidentiality of protected health information, including the creation of necessary documentation.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Willingness to work Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • A valid driver's license, appropriate insurance, and a reliable, registered vehicle.
  • Experience with a substance use disorder and/or mental illness, along with completion of the Peer Specialist training through the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB).
  • Ability to meet and maintain requirements for external community partners.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Intermediate computer skills in typing, Microsoft Word, Excel, and email usage.

Qualifications

Individuals must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, be willing to work the specified hours, possess a valid driver's license, appropriate insurance, and a reliable vehicle. They must also have experience with a substance use disorder and/or mental illness, completed the Peer Specialist training, and meet requirements for external community partners.
