Certified Peer Specialist - Crisis Services
About the role
The Peer Services program at ReDiscover is an expansion initiative aimed at supporting individuals with mental health diagnoses and/or substance use disorders. Our Peer Specialists leverage their own experiences to foster connections and guide clients towards recovery.
Responsibilities
- Share personal experiences of resilience and recovery to inspire and support clients.
- Link clients with relevant support groups, community resources, and wellness activities.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and adjust individualized treatment plans.
- Facilitate and participate in mutual support and educational groups.
- Assist with client transportation using a personal vehicle, ensuring safety and confidentiality.
- Safeguard and maintain confidentiality of protected health information.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Willingness to work Monday through Friday from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
- A valid driver's license, appropriate auto insurance, and a reliable, registered vehicle.
- Experience with a substance use disorder and/or mental illness, along with completion of the Peer Specialist training through the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB).
- Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus, strong written and oral communication abilities, and intermediate computer skills in typing, Microsoft Word, Excel, and GSuite.
