About the role
Goshen Therapeutic Services, a division of Goshen Valley Foundation, is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist. This is a contract position.
Responsibilities
- Supporting clients in articulating personal goals for recovery and wellness.
- Aiding clients in identifying strengths.
- Aiding clients in identifying recovery and wellness goals.
- Aiding clients in setting objectives and identifying barriers.
- Determining recovery and wellness interventions based on clients' life goals.
- Recognizing and reporting progress clients make toward meeting objectives.
- Understanding and utilizing specific interventions necessary to support clients in meeting their recovery and wellness goals.
- Leading as well as teaching clients how to facilitate Recovery Dialogues.
- Supporting clients in creating a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP).
- Utilizing and teaching problem-solving techniques with individuals and groups.
- Teaching clients techniques for identifying and combating negative self-talk.
- Teaching clients techniques for identifying and overcoming fears.
- Supporting the vocational choices clients make and supporting them in overcoming job-related anxiety.
- Supporting clients in building social skills in the community that will enhance job acquisition and tenure.
- Supporting clients in articulating the objectives necessary to reach his or her recovery and wellness goals.
- Modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.
Requirements
- Must be a Certified Peer Specialist or eligible for certification.
- High School Diploma or GED Required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Services or related field.
- (Psychology, Sociology, Counseling (religious counseling is not acceptable), Social Work, Child Development, Community Mental Health, Human Services, Criminal Justice (only with Juvenile experience/DJJ), Education (experience teaching k-12 grade) or have 5 years of human service experience).
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with using the internet and Microsoft Word.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Document case notes in online electronic medical record system.
- Ability to function as a member for a multi-disciplinary treatment team and work cooperatively with other agency employees.
- Ability to conduct oneself professionally and ethically with clients, co-workers and community partners.
- Must submit a valid and official transcript showing proof of degree awarded.
- Be of good character, and supportive of the programs, policies, and ideals of Goshen Valley Foundation.
- Complete and pass a criminal background check (DHS OIG) and other safety screenings and drug screen.
- Must submit a valid and official transcript showing proof of degree awarded.
- Valid Driver’s License with good driving record, proof of auto insurance meeting required 100/300/100 liability coverage, and be insurable by GVF's auto insurance carrier.

Pay
- Compensation rates for different types of services.
- This position is eligible for a $500 Sign-on bonus.
