About the role

The Peer Support Specialist position is an hourly, part‑time role covered by the OCSEA/AFSCME bargaining unit, located at Summit Behavioral Healthcare in Cincinnati, OH. The incumbent uses personal recovery experience to promote hope, facilitates recovery‑focused groups, mentors clients, and educates them on peer services, rights, advance directives, and supplemental support programs.

Responsibilities

• Peer Support & Encouragement – Utilizes personal recovery experience, when appropriate, to promote hope, encouragement, and motivation throughout the recovery process.
• Group Facilitation & Wellness Education – Leads and coordinates recovery‑focused groups, teaching coping skills, relaxation techniques, and wellness strategies.
• Client Mentorship & Advocacy – Mentors clients/residents through the recovery process by encouraging empowerment, goal‑setting, and self‑advvocacy.
• Education & Support Services – Educates clients/residents on available peer services, rights processes, advance directives, and supplemental support programs.

Qualifications

• Current certification as a Peer Recovery Supporter in accordance with OAC 5122.29.15.
• Official transcripts are required for all post‑secondary education, coursework, or degrees listed on the application; transcripts must be submitted before a formal offer and within five business days of request.

Pay
