About the role

Wyoming Medical Center seeks a Certified Patient Care Assistant to join our Progressive Care Unit (30 beds) in Casper, Wyoming. We foster a tight-knit team that supports our fast-paced nursing teams while providing growth opportunities for both new and experienced CNAs. You will assist cardiac patients from critical care through discharge, perform ADLs, charting, ambulation, and learn to run EKGs to expand your skill set.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine patient care to promote comfort and support the patient plan of care.
• Assist with activities of daily living: hygiene, mobility, and nutritional intake.
• Collect patient specimens and data (vital signs, I/O, delegated measurements) and document objective data in the medical record.
• Transport patient specimens and recognize/report changes in patient status to licensed professionals.
• Promote continuity of care by communicating patient status to other caregivers.
• Perform delegated procedures using equipment consistent with scope of practice, including blood draws, Foley catheter removal, EKGs, and EKG monitoring.
• Provide supplies and assistance to medical staff and patients for unit-specific procedures under direct supervision.
• Perform receptionist/clerical duties to support efficient department operations and communication flow.
• Participate in resolving customer problems and ensure accurate charting and filing of patient records.
• Maintain adequate supplies, order and reconcile supplies, and monitor equipment such as patient ID scanners and laptops.
• Assist with transporting patients, including pre- and immediate post-operative patients to critical care units, and participate in OR room turnover.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of practice.
• 1 year of medical clerical experience (preferably in a hospital or physician office) or prior customer service experience.
• Excellent organizational, human relations, and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy with keyboarding skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent healthcare experience.
• Successful completion of an approved unit secretary program.
• In Arizona, Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) licensure is preferred.

$5,000.00 sign-on available with a 12-month commitment.
