Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant PRN

About the Role

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will be responsible for daily patient physical therapy treatment involving frequent phone and in-person interaction with both patients and physicians. The COTA will provide patient care as prescribed by the referring physician and based on the evaluation, assessment, and plan of care designed by an Occupational Therapist. The COTA will also participate in patient education services as directed by the Occupational Therapist.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver daily patient physical therapy treatment as prescribed by an evaluating Occupational Therapist.
  • Participate in treatment plan review and ongoing patient care reassessments.
  • Ensure accurate documentation for timely and correct billing.
  • Provide exceptional customer service when interacting with patients and physicians.
  • Deliver necessary educational services and participate in facility in-service activities.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment, including physical plant, equipment maintenance, and supply inventory upkeep.
  • Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the department manager.

Requirements

  • State Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant curriculum.
  • Current BLS certification.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with both patients and physicians.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to accurately document information for billing purposes.
  • Computer experience in Windows, spreadsheets, and word processing preferred.
