About the role

Assure the quality of patient care and treatment programs by providing hands-on assessment, treatment, and direction to subordinate staff. Implement patient plans of care and goals using appropriate COTA skills, actively listen to patient and family concerns, and modify treatment plans accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients preparing for therapy and return trips, including dressing, undressing, and managing braces, supportive equipment, prostheses, or crutches.
• Provide patient care during scheduled hours as assigned by a supervisor.
• Educate and motivate patients and families to learn and improve functional activities.
• Document progress, home programs, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
• Clean and prepare equipment for therapy sessions; straighten and clean rooms.
• Assist patients with tracking counting exercises and measuring range of motion.
• Record data progress during therapy sessions.
• Confer with staff members to plan, modify, and coordinate treatment plans.
• Maintain patient and family confidentiality at all times.
• Participate in continuing education activities and obtain required contact hours.
• Perform administrative duties and additional job duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate positive rapport with staff and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and CNRS policies.
• Take direction and initiate cross-functional actions to ensure seamless patient care.

Requirements

• Must be licensed as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in the state of Iowa.
• Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of the job.

Physical Demands

• Physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, and lifting.
• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
