About the role

Assists patients/residents/clients with therapy activities and exercises scheduled in a treatment plan, under the supervision of an occupational therapist, to improve quality of life and ability to perform daily activities. Provides, monitors, and records therapy services to patients/residents/clients with physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial impairments. Selects, implements, and modifies therapeutic activities consistent with demonstrated competency levels, patient goals, and practice setting requirements. Contributes to the occupational therapy process by exchanging information and documenting patient responses during intervention. Responsible for being knowledgeable about targeted occupational therapy outcomes and providing related documentation. Follows accepted clinical practice guidelines and performs other related duties as requested.

Work may focus on post-acute, long-term care, and home health care environments. Paid travel and mileage between home health patients. New graduates are welcomed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with therapy activities and exercises as outlined in treatment plans.
  • Provide, monitor, and record therapy services for patients with various impairments.
  • Select, implement, and modify therapeutic activities based on patient goals and competency levels.
  • Exchange information with and provide documentation to the occupational therapist regarding patient responses and communications during intervention.
  • Document and report on patient progress toward targeted occupational therapy outcomes.
  • Adhere to accepted clinical practice guidelines of professional organizations.
  • Perform other related duties as needed, depending on location and facility needs.

Requirements

  • Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
  • Must be licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state(s) of practice.
  • When working at a Sanford Health Facility, certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is preferred.
  • Conform to the supervision and licensing standards of the state(s) where services are provided.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required when applicable.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of employment.

Pay

Salary Range: $24.00 - $38.50 per hour

Schedule

  • Full time, 35-40 hours per week
  • Weekdays, weekends, and holidays can be flexible
  • Weekly Hours: 36.00
