Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant - COTA - Long Term Care
Job Summary
Affords assistance to patients/residents/clients with therapy activities and exercises as per a treatment plan, supervised by an occupational therapist, to enhance their quality of life and daily activity capabilities. Monitors and documents therapy sessions for patients/residents/clients with various impairments, aligning with relevant concepts, practices, and protocols. Implements and modifies therapeutic activities based on competency levels, patient/resident/client goals, and setting requirements. Shares information with and provides documentation to the occupational therapist regarding patient/resident/client responses and communications during interventions. Ensures awareness of patient/resident/client occupational therapy outcomes and communicates related information and documentation.
Qualifications
- Appropriate education level for state licensure
- Licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state(s) of practice
- (Optional) Certified as an Occupational Therapy Assistant through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- Complies with supervision and licensing standards of the state(s) where services are provided
- Valid driver's license (when applicable)
- BLS certification within six months of employment
