Key Responsibilities
- Carry out treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist, following established goals and care strategies.
- Assist residents in developing, recovering, and improving skills needed for daily living and working.
- Document treatment sessions, resident progress, and responses in accordance with regulatory and facility guidelines.
- Educate residents, families, and caregivers on techniques to support therapy goals and promote independence.
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and timely progress updates.
- Participate in care plan meetings and assist with modifications to therapy programs as needed.
- Monitor residents’ condition during therapy and report changes to the Occupational Therapist or nursing staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of therapy equipment and work areas.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of employment.
- Prior experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care facility preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Must pass a background check and meet health screening requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to assist with resident transfers and positioning as necessary.
