Certified Nursing Assistant, Ojai SNF
Compensation for C.N.A.s includes a base pay rate with generous shift differentials ranging from an additional $1.00/hr to $5.00/hr. The salary range for this position is $24.50 - $28.60 per hour. Factors such as skills, qualifications, and relevant experience may determine placement within this range. Newly hired employees are typically placed below the midpoint of the range. PRN positions have different pay calculations based on experience, shift commitment, and department policy, with additional differentials in certain roles.
Responsibilities
This position performs resident/patient care activities and related services to ensure personal needs, safety, and comfort are met. The CNA II works collaboratively within a team, adhering to patient care policies and regulations, and is comfortable working with elderly patients and those with special needs.
- Assists with resident/patient care needs and comforts, including oral hygiene, bathing, dressing, nail care, shaving, hair care, lifting, turning, positioning, and transporting residents.
- Makes both occupied and unoccupied beds; keeps residents dry by changing gowns, clothing, and linen when soiled or wet.
- Assists with bowel or bladder functions and checks residents frequently to ensure personal care needs are met.
- Performs nursing functions such as measuring and recording vital signs, weighing and measuring residents, collecting specimens (urine, stool, sputum), preparing and giving enemas, providing catheter care, and performing diabetic urine testing.
- Turns bedfast residents at least every two hours and provides daily range of motion exercises.
- Assists with care of dying residents and maintains accurate intake and output records.
- Notes observations of patient behavior, including complaints or physical symptoms, and reports them to nurses.
- Performs food service functions, including preparing residents for meals, serving food trays, assisting with feeding, recording food and fluid intake, and providing after-meal care.
- Keeps resident water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water each shift.
- Notes and reports changes in resident eating habits, especially for those on a diabetic diet.
- Assists with keeping nursing and resident care areas neat, sanitary, and orderly.
- Floats to the OVCH Acute Care Facility four times each year.
- Appropriately records and charges for supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required: Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Preferred: High school Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Preferred: Six months of CNA experience performing Nursing/Patient Care duties in an acute care setting or skilled nursing facility.
