About the role
Work night shifts including every other weekend and holiday. Full-time position with 36 scheduled weekly hours.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic care of patients under the general supervision of an RN in the acute hospital setting.
- Transport and transfer patients within the medical complex safely and efficiently.
- Assist with data collection to facilitate the delivery of delegated nursing care.
- Work closely under the supervision of a licensed Nurse.
- Accurately document on each resident in an electronic medical record and demonstrate competency in basic computer use.
- Assist with basic care for patients in the areas of nutrition, elimination, comfort, mobility, and safety.
- Ensure patient safety.
- Participate in CNA meetings, unit staff meetings, and quality improvement activities to continuously improve patient care and unit operations.
- Perform other job-related responsibilities as requested by the Director of Nursing.
- Adhere to regular and predictable attendance; maintain flexibility in scheduling.
- Transport and transfer patients using appropriate equipment and safety precautions based on patient health status.
- Assist nursing staff in lifting and ambulating patients using appropriate practice guidelines.
- Maintain environment and equipment.
- Demonstrate dependability, organizational skills, and effective use of time by setting priorities to complete delegated work within established time frames.
- Demonstrate role accountability by adhering to Gundersen Health System Mission statement, policies, and confidentiality standards.
Requirements
- Minnesota Registered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. If you do not have your CNA certification, we will pay for it and can start you as a Nursing Assistant.
- Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands-on learning) from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Must be physically able to lift heavy objects, as well as push, pull, reach, and squat on a regular basis.
Pay
$20.55/hour with additional pay for experience. If starting as a Nursing Assistant without CNA certification, the pay rate will be $18.57/hour until certification is obtained.
