About the Role
As part of a strong clinical team, the Med Tech administers medications to residents, ensuring they receive the necessary care and services to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. The CNA-Med Tech works under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, reports observations to the licensed nurse on duty, and maintains clean and orderly equipment for medication administration.
Responsibilities
- Administers routinely scheduled oral and topical medications according to physician order via scanning per policy to assigned residents.
- Monitors and records vital signs according to physician orders and standards of practice.
- Reports any unusual or unwanted medication side effects to the Charge Nurse.
- Maintains accurate documentation of all medications and treatments based on policy and best practices.
- Assists Charge Nurse with returning, re-ordering, and destroying medications per facility policy.
- Notifies Charge Nurse of any outdated medication and any projected shortage of medications or supplies.
- Makes suggestions to resolve problems or streamline the medication system to the Charge Nurse.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Ability to interact with a computer-based Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Graduate of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program and listed on the Maine CNA Registry.
- Successful completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant-Medication training program.
Pay
Hourly rate: $23.00 - $28.00. $2,000 hiring bonus available for all levels of experience, including new grads.
