About the role
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides quality patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with patient activities of daily living, preparing patients for procedures, and maintaining patient privacy and dignity.
Responsibilities
- Assists with patient admissions, including weighing, dressing, and orientation.
- Prepares patients for various procedures, as directed by the RN.
- Auxiliary care tasks such as bathing, routine checks, assisting with activities of daily living, taking vital signs, and performing Accu-checks.
- Completes required documentation of vital signs, treatments, and procedures in a thorough and timely manner.
- Assists with patient transfers and ambulation.
- Assists with patient discharge, including packing belongings and stripping rooms for cleaning.
- Cleans and stores equipment, changes linens, and maintains and stocks work areas.
- Answers the phone and responds to nurse call systems.
- Communicates patient issues and changes in condition, including abnormal vital signs and Accu-checks, to the nurse in a timely manner.
- Attends department meetings.
- Trains, educates, supervises, and provides feedback regarding students from outside entities or organizations with whom GRMC has an established Affiliation Agreement.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
- Active New Mexico CNA certification.
- AHA-BLS certification.
- Experience working in a patient care setting, preferred.
