About the Role

A Certified Nursing Assistant performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services to ensure the personal needs and comfort of patients. This role assists with patient cleaning, feeding, preparation for treatment, vital sign recording, and other patient care duties under close supervision, following established guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in preparing patient rooms and beds to ensure adequate accommodation during hospital stays.
  • Accompanies and assists patients during admission, transfer, and discharge procedures with compassion and understanding.
  • Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, intake-output) and documents information in the Clinical Information System (CIS).
  • Reports unusual incidents or changes in patient condition to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists patients with daily living activities (e.g., bed baths, oral hygiene, dressing, positioning) and provides general care (e.g., pre- and post-operative care, bed pan assistance).
  • Prepares patients for meals, serves food, and feeds patients as needed with compassion and respect.
  • Transports patients to and from designated hospital areas, ensuring proper identification and demonstrating professionalism and respect.
  • Retrieves and delivers medications from the pneumatic tube system or pharmacy to nurses or secure locations.
  • Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment by cleaning rooms and equipment, preparing for sterilization, and reporting damaged equipment.
  • Provides input for end-of-shift reports and participates in unit quality assurance programs.
  • Uses equipment, supplies, and facilities efficiently to support high-quality healthcare services.
  • Participates in staff educational programs, continuing education, and skill training to enhance performance.
  • Assists physicians with examinations, treatments, and special tests under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Collects and transports patient specimens to the lab in a caring and expedient manner.
  • Assists with patient rehabilitation in accordance with care plans under RN supervision.
  • Performs inter-departmental errands (e.g., transporting lab specimens, picking up medications) efficiently.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
