About the role

Naphcare is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team of medical professionals at the Wyoming Department of Corrections - Medium Correctional Facility in Torrington, WY. Full-time and part-time positions may be available. As a Correctional CNA, you will work under the supervision of a registered nurse alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to individuals in residence within a controlled, security-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Duties
    • Assist with performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems and medication history
    • Take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, respiration, and weight
    • Document medical history including medications, treatment, and medical conditions
    • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility
    • Provide basic wound care, basic laboratory tests, patient education, and instructions
    • Observe and report changes in patients’ physical or mental health to nurses
  • Administrative Duties
    • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments
    • Maintain inventory of medical and office supplies
    • Answer phones, emails, and other forms of communication

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Current Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Ability to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Must adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and walk significant distances
  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
