Summary of Duties
Responsible for providing residents with routine daily personal care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and plan of care as directed.
Essential Job Functions
- Provides personal care and activities of daily living (ADL’s) care to residents including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Keeps residents rooms and resident care areas clean and neat.
- Participates in the orientation of new residents to facility.
- Documents care as instructed and required.
- Reports all changes in the resident’s condition (i.e., areas of redness, skin tears, bruising, mental status change, eating habits, etc.) to the charge nurse.
- Cheks assigned residents routinely to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being met.
- Affords assistance in transporting resident to/from dining room, therapy, activity and social programs, etc., as necessary.
- Maintains monitoring and recording of vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration and reports any changes in condition to the nursing staff.
- Encourages resident to participate in activity programs and assists as needed.
- Performs restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
- Affords assistance with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc., as necessary, utilizing appropriate techniques.
- Serves meals and assist with feeding as necessary.
- Responds to call lights and resident requests promptly and courteously.
- Performs other duties as directed and assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Must possess a current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of Alabama or obtain certification within 120 days of hire.
- Experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
