About the Role
The Nursing Assistant (NA) provides resident-centered care in a long-term care setting, assisting with daily living activities, basic health needs, and psychosocial support under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and vital signs.
- Support mobility, transfers, and range of motion exercises.
- Help with meals, snacks, and hydration to ensure a positive dining experience.
- Document resident interactions, care outcomes, and communicate changes to nursing staff.
- Perform housekeeping and laundry tasks to maintain a clean environment.
- Encourage participation in wellness and recreational activities.
- Collect non-invasive specimens and provide psychosocial support.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred; minimum 18 years old.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required or in process; training provided if needed.
- Prior experience in long-term care preferred.
- Ability to follow infection control policies and proper transfer techniques.
- Maintain continuing education credits and certifications annually.
- Possibly hold additional certifications such as QMAP, depending on location.
- Must be medically qualified to perform driving duties if applicable.
- Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
