Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant is a para-professional member of the hospice team who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient's personal needs, to promote the patient's comfort, and a safe environment. The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for observing patients and reporting/documenting these observations and the services provided.
Requirements
- Is at least eighteen years of age and is a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Is currently a State Registered Nurse Aide through the State Board of Nursing.
- One year experience in hospital or nursing home setting, preferred.
- Proof of completion of recognized CNA training program.
- Has ability to read and follow written instructions and document given care.
- Satisfactory references from previous employers.
- Is self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.
- Has empathy for the needs of the ill, frail, and impaired.
- Understands philosophy of hospice care and needs of the terminally ill.
- Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
