Responsibilities

  • Provides basic nursing care to patients under the direction of a licensed nurse, including assistance with ADLs, vital sign measurement, and accurate documentation of patient data.
  • Maintains professional behavior and prioritizes work flow to ensure completion of all assigned duties, while adhering to policies and procedures and promoting patient safety and confidentiality.
  • Collaborates with other members of the health care team, participates in staff meetings and training sessions, and notifies the licensed nurse of any patient concerns or issues.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of nursing procedures and proficiently uses medical supplies and equipment, while also ensuring their proper storage and cleaning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising nurse, such as assisting with patient care in different units and participating in the orientation of new staff members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of training course for Nursing Assistants.
  • Experience working with basic patient care methods, procedures, and techniques.
  • The ability to handle a variety of simple tasks that are routine in nature, while keeping work flowing in an orderly manner.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain clearance for a Public Trust Position, if working with specific patients.
  • Ability to express thoughts logically, in English, in both written and verbal form.
  • Ability to use computers and the typical software such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and various database systems.
  • Current certification in the state of practice is required.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Basic knowledge of nursing procedures.
  • Proficient use of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize work flow and maintain confidentiality.
  • Collaboration with other healthcare team members.
  • Communication skills (written and verbal).
