Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Primary Responsibility

• Assisting residents with bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, skin care, grooming, nail care, and dressing needs.
• Feeding residents, providing bedside water, and transferring residents to and from dining areas as needed.
• Answering resident call lights and responding to requests for assistance.
• Maintaining resident rooms by making beds, changing linens, cleaning bedside tables, and organizing personal belongings.
• Observing and reporting changes in residents’ health and behavior.
• Offering emotional support and actively listening to residents.
• Documenting medical records and assisting with resident care as per facility policy.
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED.
• Certified by the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) as a CNA in good standing.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of programs like Excel, Word.
• Thorough understanding of safe and effective nursing practices in Indiana.
• Interpersonal skills including assisting licensed nurses, following instructions, and handling residents with various levels of maturity.
• Patience, a cheerful disposition, and the ability to adhere to professional ethics and confidentiality.
